The article contains some basic information over Easy Ways to Make Some Extra Cash that You’ll surely find useful.
“I’m sorry, I can’t, I just can’t afford it.”
Do you find yourself saying this a little bit too often for your liking? Maybe your friends are going out for a celebration dinner, or your kids want to go to the movies out of the blue, or your co-workers are heading out for a crazy happy hour after work. You want to do all of these things, but they all cost money, and your budget might be a little tight.
If you’re feeling a little strapped for cash, here are some things to consider picking up in your free time to earn some extra moolah. It doesn’t necessarily take a second job to get yourself into more financial freedom. All it takes is some free time and the desire to have more to spend!
What kinds of things are stuffed up in your attic or down in your basement? Chances are, if they’re stashed away in hiding, you probably don’t need or want them anymore. Keep in mind the saying, “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” and put your stuff up for sale.
Go through the items you have in storage, take some pictures of things you think you might be able to sell, and think about creating listings for them on eBay. Or simply have a garage sale. You’d be surprised how much someone else would like the things you consider to be junk.
The same is true for old clothes or any kind of accessory items. Go through your closet and pull out the clothes you just don’t wear anymore. Hang them out at a garage sale or bring them to a nearby consignment shop. Do the same with shoes, old handbags, even old jewelry. Anything you don’t want or need, you can sell. Your wallet and your closet will thank you!
Do the Things You Like
Believe it or not, it might not be all that difficult to turn your hobbies into money-making practices. Is there something you’re particularly good at? Arts and crafts seem to be the best possibilities for hobbies that make money. Maybe you knit or crochet, or you have a way with pottery. Consider making several items, signing up to be a vendor at a local farmer’s market or craft fair, and sell what you’ve made! You could even list your items online. If you’re making your treasures with your free time anyway, you might as well make some money off of them!
Are you good at sports and do you like playing them? Consider signing up to be a high school referee or even a coach. How about photography? Turn your skills into money-makers by offering to shoot portraits or weddings at a discounted rate (the real pros can be expensive – you’d be surprised how many people want good photos but don’t want to cough up the high prices). Love animals? Offer to walk neighbors’ dogs. The list goes on and on…
Blogging is a big up and coming thing. It’s not easier than ever to monetize a blog you create. Is there something that you know a lot about or have very strong opinions on? Share them! Creating a blog is quick, easy and usually free.
Generally a blog makes money off of advertisers that wish to post ads on your site. But now, more than ever, it’s even easier than that to monetize your work. Do some research to find out more about which blogs offer which kinds of payouts, and go from there.
What was your major in college? What do you do for a living? Have you ever considered sharing your knowledge and experience with others by teaching?
Call a local high school and offer to sign up as a tutor. You can either have students come to your house for their tutoring session (so convenient for you!), you can go to them, or meet at the school. You’ll be doing a good deed by helping the local youth and you’ll be making some extra cash!
Or sign on as a substitute teacher. Even teachers need days off from school, whether they have appointments or their kids are sick or anything else, so schools are always looking for substitutes. Check with your local school system to see what kinds of certifications are necessary to substitute teach there. This one is a little trickier, as you may need to have an entire day free to work at the school, but it may be worth it.
Become a Consultant
Along the same lines of teaching, take what you already know how to do and are already good at, and use it to make some more money. Offer up your services as a consultant. Maybe you’re green-savvy, and you know a local company who wishes to go green. Offer yourself as a consultant to give ideas on ways to make the offices more green.
Anytime you develop, manage, give your expertise or anything along those lines, it is considered consulting work. Decide what you’re best at, do some research on getting started as a consultant, and start offering your expertise during your free time!
Be a Mystery Shopper
Tons of retail stores offer mystery shopping opportunities. Never heard of it before? It’s when a store hires you to shop. No, really.
You are hired to go to a store as a consumer, and report back to the retailer on your experiences as said consumer. You have to have a good memory for this one, as you will be expected to recall workers you interacted with while shopping, who was helpful, who wasn’t, how easily things were found, etc.
If you’re a shopper by nature, though, this is a great way to earn anywhere from $10 to hundreds of dollars in very little time. And let’s be honest, you want to make money to spend it, right? You can kill two birds with one stone while mystery shopping!
